The Housatonic River Initiative Atlas Project was begun in 2006 to create a comprehensive guide to the Housatonic River watershed by posting a variety of information about included towns, lakes, and ponds, including static bathometric and topographic maps.
This project was funded in part by the Massachusetts Environmental Trust.

All Things Considered, January 19, 2006 – “For years, General Electric, the EPA and the town of Pittsfield, Mass., fought bitterly over cleaning up PCBs, which are believed to cause cancer. Five years ago, the company and the government negotiated an agreement to clean them up. But as Nancy Cohen of WNPR in Hartford reports, many residents still feel uneasy over lingering toxic wastes.”
